About Masjid Mujahideen
Located in the heart of West Philadelphia, Masjid Mujahideen has been an emblematic Islamic
Institution since February 1983. Our legacy is deeply rooted in a steadfast commitment to spiritual
enrichment, family engagement, and community outreach throughout the greater Philadelphia area. As
an affiliate of Majlis Ash Shura, Masjid Mujahideen passionately champions collaborative endeavors,
bridging the gap between the Islamic community and the broader societal fabric.

Transforming the Neighborhood
From 1985 to 1992, Masjid Mujahideen emerged as a powerful force for change, tackling issues related
to drug use and illegal activities. The Masjid became a hub of hope and empowerment, offering various
outreach programs, support services, and educational initiatives that aimed to engage local residents
positively. By providing a safe and welcoming environment, Masjid Mujahideen worked with law
enforcement and social service organizations to address the problem of drug users and dealers,
implementing community policing strategies that made a significant impact on the area's safety and
well-being.
The Masjid's influence extended beyond these efforts. When plans were announced to open a beer deli
in the neighborhood—a move many feared would increase alcohol consumption and attract negative
influences—Masjid Mujahideen led a series of picketing events and organized peaceful protests.
Mobilizing residents, they demonstrated the community's unified opposition to the beer deli,
advocating instead for businesses that would contribute to a healthier, family-friendly environment.
Through strategic advocacy and persistent community action, the Masjid played a crucial role in
reshaping the neighborhood into a safer, more supportive place for everyone.
The Madinah Project: Expanding Our Vision
With an ever-growing population in the 19143 Community, Masjid Mujahideen recognizes the
imperative to expand its facilities to meet the escalating needs of its constituents. Thus, we are proud to
introduce the Madinah Project—a visionary initiative designed to provide a secure and spacious
environment that can comfortably accommodate our community. The essence of this project lies in our
unwavering commitment to ensuring that no community member is ever turned away due to space or
resource limitations.
Through its comprehensive range of spiritual services, educational programs, and community initiatives,
Masjid Mujahideen continues to be a cornerstone of Islamic faith and community service in West
Philadelphia, fostering an environment of growth, support, and unity for all.
We believe that through faith and unity, we can build a better world for all.
